Tampa Bay Abortion Fund Raises Over $100K, Pauses Intake Amid State Restrictions
TAMPA — The Tampa Bay Abortion Fund (TBAF) announced it raised more than $109,000 during its 2025 Fund-a-Thon campaign, thanks to a successful grassroots effort and a $50,000 match from the National Network of Abortion Funds.
The campaign, which concluded this month, brought in $59,763 from individual supporters and fundraising teams across the region. According to TBAF, 100% of the funds will go directly toward covering abortion appointments and practical support such as travel, lodging, and child care for people seeking care.
So far in 2025, the fund has spent over $513,000 assisting abortion-seekers—$454,000 for medical appointments and $59,000 for support services including 33 hotel stays and 46 flights. The group says demand for assistance remains high amid growing restrictions in Florida, including a six-week abortion ban and increased hurdles for minors.
Despite the fundraising success, TBAF says it will temporarily pause its intake line until July 7. The pause, the organization said, is necessary to update their clinic payment process, build internal programs, and plan for the second half of the year. The group noted that it is bringing in less funding than in previous years and must ensure outlays do not exceed funding.
TBAF leadership said they remain committed to resuming full services in July and aim to build a sustainable funding model to support at least $700,000 in annual abortion care.
