Local Leaders Endorse Trevor Mallory for St. Pete City Council
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Several local leaders endorsed Trevor Mallory today in his race to succeed Gina Driscoll on the St. Petersburg City Council District 6 seat.
Elected leaders endorsing Mallory include Gulfport Councilmember Nancy Earley, Gulfport Councilmember Jennifer Daunch, and former Gulfport Councilmember April Thanos. They join former St. Petersburg Councilmember Karl Nurse, who formerly represented District 6, in supporting Mallory for City Council.
“I know from experience that Trevor is the kind of leader St. Petersburg needs,” said April Thanos, former member of the Gulfport City Council. “He isn’t afraid to ask tough questions and demand real answers before decisions are made. He takes the time to listen to the community and make choices based on what is best for St. Petersburg. That thoughtful, independent approach will serve residents well. Vote Trevor Mallory for St. Petersburg City Council.”
Community leaders also added their endorsements, including Dr. Basha Jordan, Torrie Jasuwan, Armando Grundy-Gomes, Pastor Manuel Sykes, and Pastor G. Gregg Murray.
“Trevor Mallory is the right person for St. Petersburg City Council because he understands that every neighborhood and every family deserves to be heard and represented,” said Pastor Dr. Manuel Sykes of Bethel Community Baptist Church. “He has spent his life serving this community, bringing people together, and working across different backgrounds and perspectives to find solutions that help strengthen our city. I believe Trevor will lead with integrity and a commitment to all of St. Petersburg.”
Mallory works as the President of Neighborhood Home Solutions, where he helps locals achieve home ownership. He graduated from Lakewood High School and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays shortly after graduation. After his time in professional baseball, he returned home to St. Petersburg to build a life rooted in public service and entrepreneurship. He has worked directly in the creation of new affordable housing, served as a horticulture specialist for the City of St. Petersburg Parks Department, and has built multiple local businesses. Mallory has served on boards for the City of St. Petersburg ranging from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to the Citizen Redistricting Commission.
Mallory is a devoted father of four daughters and a long-time youth mentor. In 2019, he began coaching four-year-old tee ball in the local little league. He now serves as the league’s president.
Mallory has risen to the top of a crowded race to replace term-limited Councilwoman Gina Driscoll. He officially qualified for the ballot last month, alongside four other candidates.
