Hillsborough County Seeks Volunteers for New DOGE Liaison Committee
TAMPA – Hillsborough County is seeking residents to serve on its newly created DOGE Liaison Committee, tasked with streamlining government operations and enhancing fiscal accountability.
Established by the Board of County Commissioners in April, the five-member volunteer committee will meet monthly for up to one year, providing reports and recommendations directly to county leadership. Applicants must be registered voters residing in Hillsborough County and possess expertise in accounting, economics, finance, auditing, information technology, or human resources.
Commissioner Joshua Wostal pushed for the establishment of this committee, intended to imitate Elon Musk’s federal initiative that failed in its goal of reducing inefficiencies in government spending. Wostal succeeded in establishing the local DOGE Liason Committee, but was unsuccessful in getting himself appointed its point of contact with a similar state task force.
