PSTA launches express bus service between downtown St. Petersburg and Tampa airport

TAMPA, FL — The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority has launched a direct express bus service connecting downtown St. Petersburg with Tampa International Airport, offering a new transportation option for travelers and airport employees.

The 727 Airport Express operates seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., serving nine stops throughout downtown St. Petersburg and traveling across the Howard Frankland Bridge using its express lanes.

Buses have luggage racks and connect with the SunRunner and the broader PSTA network.

The service began operating during the week of Oct. 5. PSTA marked its launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the airport Oct. 8.

“People have been asking for a direct connection between St. Pete and Tampa International Airport, and now it’s here,” said Brad Miller, PSTA’s chief executive officer.

The route is the agency’s first premium express service connecting downtown St. Petersburg with the airport. Its name draws from Pinellas County’s 727 area code.
