Tampa & St. Pete Rank Among Top U.S. Cities for Quality of Services

TAMPA — Tampa and St. Petersburg have been recognized among the top 25 cities in the nation for quality of city services, according to a new 2025 report from WalletHub.

In the rankings released this week, Tampa placed 24th and St. Petersburg 25th out of 148 of the most populated U.S. cities. The “Quality of City Services” score evaluates key areas such as public safety, infrastructure, health, education, and economic measures.

WalletHub compared cities across six service categories, using metrics like crime rates, high school graduation rates, road conditions, and hospital quality. Each city’s performance was scored independently from its budget efficiency, meaning Tampa and St. Petersburg were ranked solely on the strength of their public services—not on how much was spent to provide them.

The report highlights both cities as delivering relatively high-quality services to residents across a broad range of government functions.
